For Nennen is uses digital embroidery on silk taffeta to pay homage to inherited experiences and matrilineal resilience.

The text has been pulled from the artist’s personal oral history archive, developed over years of familial conversation surrounding family history and the embodiment of ancestry.

The speaker nods toward the strength of her grandmother, and how it has inspired her own. The characters exist timelessly across generations to conjure a reminder of the power of the women who came before us. For Nennen creates room for the production and transmission of collective memories, and the ways they can connect us across time and experience.
